Description

The Cascade variety was created and released by the U.S.D.A in 1972. Cascade hops are characterized as a medium strength aroma of unique floral/spicy with a bittering potential. Cascade is the most used variety by American craft brewers and Australian craft and home brewers have a love affair with Cascade as well due to it’s unique characteristics and incredible versatility in the brewhouse.  Think Sierra Nevada Pale Ale as a signature example of what is possible with well grown and processed Cascade.  Important to note that Sierra Nevada also source Cascade Hops direct from CrosbyHopFarm and for good reason.  The Crosby Family know a little bit about growing quality US Cascade having grown and processed hops on their family farm in Woodburn, Oregon for 5 generations!

Crosby Type-90 Hop Pellets are a softer “craft pellet”.  These pellets are approximately 20% less dense than industry standard pellets.  The soft pellet comes apart quickly when used as a dry hop, and provides better hop utilization in the kettle, whirlpool and fermenter.

The low pelletizing temperatures at Crosby Hop Farm also work to preserve hop oils, aromatics, and alpha.
